Internal corrosion monitoring / Since 1974
Access fittings, coupons, ER/LPR probes and chemical injection hardware — plus field crews who pull and swap them under full line pressure. Fifty years in Western Canadian sour service.
01 / Catalogue
Every fitting, coupon, probe and tool we stock — searchable, with spec sheets attached. Add parts to the RFQ tray and our inside-sales tech quotes it the same business day.

02 / Field service
No shut-in, no blowdown, no flaring. Our crews retrieve and install under full line pressure up to 6,000 psi — on a lease road, a muskeg right-of-way or a pad you can only reach by air.
Scheduled pulls on your 30/60/90-day cycle. Coupons bagged, nitrogen-purged and chain-of-custody logged on site.
ER and LPR probes changed out under pressure, loggers re-zeroed and data downloaded before we leave the lease.
New access points on live lines, with a Marten supervisor on the tapping machine and the paperwork your safety lead will ask for.
Fitting location surveys, weld-on supervision, and placement at 12 or 6 o’clock where the corrosion actually happens.
Quill and nozzle installs, pump rate verification and a residual check at the first downstream sample point.
Half-day retriever training for your own operators, at your site or in our Edmonton shop on a pressurized test loop.
03 / Monitoring programs
A coupon is a 90-day question. Our corrosion technologists design where to ask it, weigh the answer in our Edmonton lab, and tell you what to change — in plain language your integrity group can act on.
Monitoring locations chosen from flow modelling, water cut and failure history — not one coupon per riser because that’s how it was done in 1995.
Weight loss, pit depth by microscope, deposit analysis and photographs. Reports back within 10 business days of receipt, signed by a technologist.
Coupon, probe, bacteria and chemical residual data on one trend line — so a rate change is tied to a cause, and a chemical rate to a result.
This is what lands in your inbox. Not a spreadsheet of weights.
04 / Track record
Counted from our service tickets, not a brochure. The oldest fittings we still service went in before most of our crew were born.
Founded in Edmonton, still independently owned
Coupon pulls and probe swaps logged since 1998
Field crews across three Alberta bases
Jurisdictions: AB, BC, SK and the NWT
Marten started in 1974 in a Quonset hut off 99 Street, machining access fittings for a handful of sour gas operators who were tired of waiting on parts from Houston. We still machine our own fittings and plugs in Edmonton, and we still answer the field line ourselves.
What changed is the scope. Today we design monitoring programs, run our own corrosion lab, and keep 14 crews moving between Fort McMurray, the Montney and the heavy-oil belt. Same rule as day one: if you can’t shut the line in, we come to it.
“We run 600-odd monitoring points. Marten pulls them on schedule, under pressure, and the report tells me which twelve I need to worry about. That’s the whole job.”
“Plug seized in a 1980s fitting on a sweet gas line. Their crew flew in, retrieved it, chased the threads and had a new coupon in before lunch. No shut-in.”
05 / Who we work with
Sour gas, heavy oil and SAGD — gathering lines, emulsion lines, produced-water disposal.
Gas plants, compressor stations and transmission laterals under CSA Z662 integrity programs.
Municipal and industrial water mains, cooling water and source-water lines with MIC history.
District energy loops and power-plant cooling systems where an outage is not an option.
06 / Contact
24/7 field line — answered by dispatch in Edmonton.
Quoted the same business day if it lands before 2 pm MT. Stock parts ship next morning.
Confirmed within 4 hours with a crew lead’s name and a mobilization date.
A technologist calls you — not a sales rep — to scope the program.
